Oh man! This vac is simply a pleasure to use and does a great job. It is replacing a progressive upright we've had for more than 6 years. The upright was one of the worst designed, in terms of attachment use, but still cleans like crazy. Great suction, just a pain to use except as an upright only.
The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it isn't all solid metal construction. I don't think that even matters, since it seems to be well constructed, but humor me.
We have dogs; a Lab and an Aussie. Shedding machines. They camp on the furniture.
We have both hardwood and carpet floors.
After reading the reviews, I had pretty much settled on the LG canister; great reviews for the money. Unfortunately, I couldn't find one at Best Buy or Sears. Went to Plan B; back to amazon reviews. Great vacuum cleaner, but flawed handle design
This is the third Progressive Kenmore vacuum cleaner that I have owned (I bought each new). Each model is typically better than the previous one. However, this model may be the exception. It does not live up the Kenmore Progressive that I bought in 2006, although it is quieter, the attachments are easier to detach, and it's lighter and has a HEPA filter. Those are all good things. Where it disappoints is in the handle, which contains the detachable brush. Every time I use it, I wonder if the product designer was a man with big hands who never watched a smaller women use a brush attachment. This is one LARGE, thick, heavy handle; and unlike with previous models, it takes two hands to grip the handle in order to clean upholstered furniture. There's a crevice tool attached to the bottom of the handle, presumably to make it convenient to slip on and off. All it does is fall off when you least expect it (held on by a flimsy notch) and serves to make the handle even thicker and more...
UGGHH!
This is the third model of the canister vacuum I have had. I have loved my others and used them until they died. So it was very natural that I choose this next model. I am VERY disappointed with the floor tool. It constantly falls apart! The wand is only held in place by a very small little nub. As you rotate the tool to get in corners, the nub lines up with the groove and falls apart. One solution is to tape the two pieces, but then your range of movement is limited and defeats the purpose of the improved design. If the company that manufactures this vacuum would offer to replace this attachment for free, I would be an extremely happy person.....and would probably keep buying this model.
