Seems to do its job
Pros:
- Good suction power.
- Long self retracting cord.
- Transparent dust canister makes it easy to see when it's full.
- Motorized brush head.
- Easily detachable dust canister. Be sure to empty outside to minimize returning dust into the home.
- Pivot head on vacuum head works well allowing you to orient in almost any direction.
- Neck is adjustable in length.
- Weight is mostly in the base unit and not the head to facilitate maneuverability, though the head has some weight due to the electric motor that drives the brushes.
- Most of the switches can be operated with your foot. The only switch that is hand controlled is the switch for the spinning brush head.
Cons:
- Base unit is still pretty heavy for a vacuum and it is rather wide so you can't sit it on a stair when you are trying to vacuum a flight of steps.

A Vacuum Cleaner That Sucks... in a Good Way
I tend to have love-hate relationships with my vacuum cleaners. With most there are qualities to love... and qualities that make you push it into the closet with a bit more force than is necessary. And so with the Hoover Windtunnel MultiCyclonic Bagless Canister - SH40055 this again proves to be true. There are, happily, more qualities to love than to hate.
Starting in the "Love" category:
~ It maneuvers easily. Despite the fact that it's a canister vacuum, where the steering often handles handle like the Exxon Valdez, this steers pretty well. It has a nice long cord, and a sturdy one at that. The hose is durable and for reasons not understood by me, but for which we must thank the designers, it doesn't get caught on itself or the canister.
~It sucks up dirt very well. It's good for long wispy dog hair and cat hair and all the stuff life deposits on your floors.

Lots of pros and a few cons
Overall, there is a lot to like in this vacuum cleaner, especially for the price. The pros outweigh the cons, and there are a few features that make it especially enjoyable to use.
PROS:
THE CORD REEL. I just love vacuums with a cord reel. All the vacuums seemed to have these when I was a kid, and now that most vacuums no longer have one, I find it very annoying to have to wind the cord up myself. I have a Dyson Animal vacuum with a 35' cord, and the way it was designed, you can't just unwind the amount of cord you need and leave the rest wound up; you always have to take the entire 35' of cord off the hooks it is wound on, or you can't use the wand, because the cord holds the wand down. Such a poor design. On this Hoover vacuum, there is a cord reel with an easy-to-reach button on the canister. Like with any cord reel, you have to have the cord fairly straight when you press the button. You can't have a big knot of cord sitting there and expect the cord reel to...
