Dyson DC40 Multi Floor Upright Vacuum Cleaner
DC40 Multi floor is a lightweight Dyson Ball upright vacuum cleaner for every floor type. The machine’s cleaner head has an active base place, which self-adjusts automatically for optimal contact with all floor types. On hard floors the base plate lowers to create an efficient seal, and the brush bar lifts clear off the floor to protect delicate surfaces. On carpet, the base plate rises and the brush bar lowers for optimum bristle penetration- removing ground-in dirt and pet hair from different depths of carpet pile. And because the cleaner head adjusts automatically, there are no fiddly dials and you don’t need to bend down to make adjustments.

Dyson cyclones capture more dirt than any other cyclone. DC40 Multi floor has Radial Root Cyclone technology with remodeled airflows to maximize suction power. DC40 Multi floor also has patented Ball technology. It turns on the spot, which allows you to maneuver more easily around obstacles and into awkward spaces. And because the motor and other key components are located inside the ball, the machine has a lower center of gravity- making it even easier to steer.

Patented Dyson Technology:

Dyson engineers are constantly testing and inventing, trying to find new ways to make their technology better. As they work, they file patent applications to protect their inventions from copycat manufacturers. That’s why the only place you’ll find Dyson technology is inside a Dyson machine.

New Radial Root Cyclone technology
Ordinary vacuum cleaners rely on bags to trap dust and dirt. As you use them, the tiny holes in the bag clog up with particles of dust. This restricts the flow of air, so the vacuum cleaner loses suction. Dyson vacuum cleaners don’t rely on bags to trap dust and dirt. They use cyclone technology, which spins the air at incredibly high speeds. The cyclones inside a Dyson vacuum cleaner generate centrifugal forces many thousands of times the force of gravity. Dust, dirt and pet hair are flung out of the airflow and straight into the bin. No bag. No loss of suction.

Dyson has been continually refining cyclone technology since inventing it more than 20 years ago. DC40 Multi floor has new Radial Root Cyclone technology. Reconfigured air channels and improved flow efficiency reduce turbulence and preserve air pressure, so that the inner cyclones can extract more microscopic particles. These refinements help remove more dirt, dust, allergens and pet hair for the airflow.

Ball technology to help you steer with ease
Dyson Ball upright vacuum cleaners use patented Ball technology to overcome the steering limitations of fixed wheels. They ride on a ball, which turns on the spot so you can steer with ease, changing direction with just a turn of the wrist.

The ball itself is made of glass-reinforced polypropylene- the same material used in the manufacture of car dashboards. It combines high impact strength with the resistance to distortion. The ball also holds the heaviest component, (the motor), positioned towards the base for a lower center of gravity and greater stability.

DC40 Multi Floor Product Features:

Self-adjusting cleaner head
Many upright vacuum cleaners use fixed settings and their cleaner heads don’t self-adjust to different floor types. And the bigger the gap between the cleaner head and floor, the more suction power is wasted. DC40 Multi floor has an active base plate. It creates the optimal cleaner head contact for every floor type, reducing air leaks and retaining suction power on all floor types- wood, carpet, vinyl and tile.

Instant release wand
DC40 Multi floor has an instant release, long reach wand for cleaning stairs and awkward areas- it stretches up to 5 times in length. There are no separate parts to assemble.

Extra tools
DC40 Multi floor comes with a Combination tool and a Stair tool. The Combination tool has a debris nozzle that converts to a brush tool for dusting. The Stair tool removes dirt and dust from corners and against vertical edges of stairs.

Approved for allergy sufferers
All new Dyson upright and canister vacuums are certified asthma & allergy friendly by the Asthma & Allergy Foundation of America. Dyson cyclones capture microscopic particles down to 0.5 microns in size, including pollen, mold and bacteria.

No extra costs
Other vacuum cleaners are still designed to need replacement bags and filters- and the cost soon adds up. Dyson vacuums don’t have bags and have washable filters, so there are no extra costs..

5 year parts and labor warranty
Your Dyson vacuum cleaner is likely to take a few knocks and bashes during everyday use- but that’s nothing compared to what Dyson puts its machines through during testing and development. All Dyson vacuum cleaners undergo a lengthy and rigorous testing program. That’s why DC40 Multi floor comes with a 5 year warranty- parts and labor guaranteed by Dyson.

My First Dyson Vacuum
So I took the plunge and bought my first Dyson. I went with the Dyson DC40 and ordered it from Amazon a couple of days after it came out for $400 (20% off Mother's Day special). I don't have any pets, so I didn't think I needed to pay the extra for the Animal version. It was only $50 dollars more than the previous model DC25 and had the new Dyson Radial Root Cyclone technology and a couple of other new features. I figured, for $50, I might as well have the latest technology and it has been around for a few months in the DC41 Animal, so it isn't their first try at it.

Just for some background, I'm upgrading from an old Hoover Windtunnel bagless upright vacuum. I have never really been that happy with it. It probably cost $300 when I bought it and it does an ok job, but loses suction after only a few minutes of vacuuming unless you keep emptying the bin and buying new filters. After the original cost of the old vacuum plus a few filters, all of the sudden a Dyson...

Love My First Dyson
I have scoffed at my friends who spend way to much money on Dysons because they're just cute and trendy but I went to the store the other day to pickup yet another vacuum cleaner bag and somehow came home with the Dyson DC40 Ball Upright. First let me say that I hate upright vacuum cleaners. We have one and it is heavy, I can't do stairs, I can't carry it easily from upstairs to down, etc. It can't clean under anything because it's too big. It is a decent vacuum cleaner that we spent over $300 so I figure it cleans pretty well but I don't vacuum much because it's such an ordeal to use.

So home I come with a $500 Dyson upright chosen because its carpet beater is belt driven (my requirement) and because it was surprisingly light. I was ready for hubby to flip out over the price but we use it on a recently vacuumed floor. First, it is so light, it barely feels like you're doing anything or that it's even sucking that hard. But up comes the most amazing quantity of dust and fur...
Some issues
Just purchased this elsewhere as I had a 30% off coupon. The vacuum seems to be very well engineered and though the parts are plastic, they seem durable. The suction is great on both carpet and bare floors. I have two issues with the vacuum that may result in my returning it. If you try to pick up a small bead, or other object with the vacuum it just pushes it forward. You can't tip the head up to get the piece on the rebound as well. To pick up something higher than a mm (1/8")you have to physically lift the entire vacuum up and drop it on the item. The second issue is with the hose/wand. It is extremely tight and if you don't have something to stop the vacuum from rolling, it will tip over when you try to clean stairs. It is also very difficult to use for dusting, as the suction head is at the end of about four feet of solid tubing, and the hose is so tight and fights you to go back to it's original position. You can not dust a flat surface over your head without standing...

Awesome Vacuum For Small Homes!
I read the previous review and decided to purchase this vacuum anyway. Before purchasing I looked at practically every vacuum on the market and if I lived in a slightly bigger home, I probably would purchase a Miele or bigger Dyson instead. As it is, I live in a VERY small condo that has practically no storage space and this has turned out to be THE ideal vacuum for me! I have hardwood floors, tile and carpet in my home so I LOVE the fact that I can use this machine on all three! My place is so small that I had been using a hand-held Dirt Devil vacuum for my carpet and a Swiffer for the hardwood floors and tile. I really wanted to get a canister vacuum to get under my couch, furniture, etc. but I needed to also have something that would be reasonably small to store. This vacuum has been perfect!
It is true that the vacuum does NOT leave "waves" on your carpet when you vacuum, but that is not a deal breaker for me. The vacuum is also rather expensive for what you get, but...

Perfect for hard wood floors; so-so for carpets
My house has mostly hardwood floors, and I've been looking for the optimal vacuum for a long time. I've tried various cordless and corded vacuums but haven't been satisfied. The problem is that most vacuums have a rotating brush. The brush, when on, rotates very rapidly and causes undue wear on the wood finish, dulling the floor after a few months. I imagine this would not be a problem with really hard floors like tile/stone. Some vacs allow the brush to be turned off, but then the cleaning is not as effective since the nozzle was designed to be used with the rotating brush.

This leads me to what I love about the DC26, besides its small size and weight: the included "articulating hard floor" attachment. It's much wider than the standard head, and looks wider than most uprights. This attachment also has two pivot points on different axes, making it very easy to get in narrow spots and under furniture. Other canister vacuums' hard floor heads seem to have only one pivot...
It is pricey but has its benefits
I've done a lot of research before purchasing a vacuum. Considering this is called the "city vac", the vacuum is perfect for small apartments.

PROS:
-Its light! I cant lift a heavy vacuum.
-It fits in my small closet and doesnt take up much space.
-Not a hassle to setup. I vacuum at least twice a week b/c I have a baby that crawls.
-It picks up a lot of dust (#12 in HEPA; the highest you can get)
-The vacuum can reach under the bed and other narrow places- very impt!
-Can detach vacuum head and attach other accessories that are already provided.
-It is BAGLESS. So easy to clean out.
-Comes with a 5 year manufacturer's warrenty

CONS:
-The cord isn't the longest I've ever seen...it is annoying, but manageable for an apartment.
-Doesnt pick up bulky things (like cheerios) HUGE minus b/c I have to place the vacuum directly over it and wait for it to get picked up. Sometimes I just sweep the cheerios up before...

They use patented Root Cyclone™ technology, which spins the air at incredibly high speeds. The cyclones inside a Dyson vacuum cleaner generate centrifugal forces many thousands of times the force of gravity. Dust, dirt and pet hair are flung out of the airflow and straight into the bin. No bag. No loss of suction.

Dyson DC35 Cordless Vacuum

DC26 Multi Floor Product Features:

Concentrated Root Cyclone technology
Dyson cyclones capture microscopic particles down to 0.5 microns in size, with no loss of suction.

No extra costs
Other vacuum cleaners are still designed to need replacement bags, belts and filters. Dyson vacuum cleaners don’t need bags and have lifetime washable filters, so there are no extra costs to worry about.

Turbine head with conductive carbon fiber brush bar
The brush bar contains both stiff nylon bristles for removing ground-in dirt from carpets, and ultra fine carbon fiber filaments, engineered to remove fine dust from hard floors. The brush bar is powered by an air driven turbine and is ideal for hard floors and short pile carpets. The floor tool clicks into the back of the machine when not in use for easy storage.

Dyson DC35 Cordless Vacuum
Hygienic bin emptying
Articulating hard floor tool
Maneuvers easily and cleans narrow gaps.

Extra tools
DC26 Multi Floor also comes with a stair tool and combination brush/crevice tool.

Clear bin and hygienic emptying
The bin on a Dyson vacuum cleaner is transparent so you can see when it needs emptying – and just how much dust, dirt and pet hair your new Dyson machine has picked up. It’s made of tough polycarbonate and can be emptied with the press of a button – minimizing the risk of contact with dirt.

Detachable handle
Allows tools to fit directly to the end of the hose for cleaning in tight spaces.

Miniaturized cable rewind
Smaller and lighter, without compromising cable length of 16ft.

HEPA filter
Captures allergens, expels cleaner air. Traps microscopic particles down to 1/5,000 of a pinhead. Particles this small include common household allergens such as pollen, mould spores and dust mite feces.

Centralized motor
Positioned to reduce drag weight. Makes the machine easier to pull along.

Certified asthma and allergy friendly
DC26 Multi Floor is certified asthma and allergy friendly by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America.

5 year parts and labor warranty
Your Dyson vacuum cleaner is likely to take a few knocks and bashes during everyday use – but that’s nothing compared to what Dyson puts its machines through during testing and development. All Dyson vacuum cleaners undergo a lengthy and rigorous testing program. That’s why DC26 Multi Floor comes with a free 5 year warranty – parts and labor.

Dyson DC39 MultiFloor Canister Vacuum
Dyson DC39 Multi Floor Canister Vacuum
Dyson DC39 MultiFloor Canister Vacuum
DC39 Multi Floor is a full-size Dyson canister vacuum with Ball technology for greater maneuverability. Wheeled vacuums can be awkward – heavy to pull, head the wrong way and collide with obstacles. A Dyson Ball vacuum cleans without the awkward moves, turning on the spot. DC39 Multi Floor also has a central steering mechanism for greater control. The pivot point is located near the center of the machine, so it can make tighter turning circles and more easily follows the user’s path.

Dyson cyclones capture more dirt than any other. DC39 Multi floor has Radial Root Cyclone technology with remodelled airways to maximize suction power. Like all other Dyson vacuums, DC39 Multi floor doesn’t lose suction as you clean. There are no bags to replace and the lifetime filters are washable, so there are no extra costs.

DC39 Multi Floor comes with a Triggerhead tool, with an air-driven rotating brush bar. It’s the only turbine head controlled at the handle- so no bending down is required. Just push the button on the handle to turn the brush bar on for high pick-up on carpets, or off for delicate rugs and hard floors. DC39 Multi Floor has been engineered for reduced noise levels with no compromise in performance. The essential components are located inside the acoustically treated ball.

Patented Dyson Technology

Dyson engineers are constantly testing and inventing, trying to find new ways to make their technology work better.

The cyclones inside a Dyson vacuum cleaner generate centrifugal forces many thousands of times the force of gravity. Dust, dirt and pet hair are flung out of the airflow and straight into the bin. No bag. No loss of suction.

Dyson has been continually refining cyclone vacuum technology since inventing it more than 20 years ago. DC39 Multi Floor has new Radial Root Cyclone technology. Reconfigured air channels and improved flow efficiency reduce turbulence and preserve air pressure, so that the inner cyclones can extract more microscopic particles. These refinements help remove more dirt, dust, allergens and pet hair from the airflow.

Ball Technology
Dyson Ball machines use Ball technology to overcome the steering limitations of fixed wheels. They ride on a ball, which turns on the spot, so you can steer with ease. The ball also holds the heaviest component (the motor) – positioned towards the base for a lower center of gravity and greater stability. The machine moves easily around obstacles, and the ball’s smooth surface means that it doesn’t dig into carpet pile.

The Messiah of Vacuums
This is the best vacuum ever. I have been a proud dyson owner for the past 8 years, my first was a purple DC07 Animal and that vacuum has been a trooper and still works just as good as when I bought it. So why a new vacuum? This one has all the bells and whistles that turn a staunch feminist into Donna Reed. It is that much fun to vacuum.

Out of the box, it takes five seconds to snap everything together and you are ready to go. I have no idea what the other reviewer is complaining about regarding the plastic but this is high quality all around. The plastic is smooth and has a matte finish (no scratches!) and is NOT BRITTLE so it won't snap. And nothing on my old dyson ever broke and that one was all plastic too.

Once I got going, I never had to stop. I started on the sea grass hallway rug, moved to the wood floor, moved back to the low pile rug in the living room and then into the kitchen. The vacuum is light weight, very easy to maneuver and no switching...

Sucks - in a good way
After finally retiring my beloved Hoover Windtunnel canister vacuum - I decided to replace it with this Dyson.
Assembly was easy - I gave up with the instructions (pictures only - but not very informative) and had it up and running in about 5 minutes. I vacuumed an area rug with my Hoover first (it still works - but is now held together by duct tape and rubber bands in several areas). After going over it a second time with the Dyson - I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of dust it pulled out of the carpet. There was a couple of pieces of lint (looked like a down feather) that I had to go over several times in order to vacuum it up - but otherwise it did a good job. Going off the area rug onto the hardwood floor was easy - you just push a button in the handle to turn off the brush so the floor doesn't get scratched. The canister is quite light and easy to pull around - and emptying it is a breeze. I would suggest emptying it into a large (outside) garbage can -...
Not what I expected
I expected this to work as good as my upright Dyson, and be better on the bare floors. Well, it is better on the bare floor. However, it is not very good on carpets. It seems the head is not heavy enough to allow the beater bar to loosten the dirt in the fibers. I replaced a Sears canister that was quite old. I must say it did a better job on carpets. The accs. are a joke. The brush that came with it is so fine that the bristles suck up into the hose. I bought the accs. pack for the home ( Good lord was that ever expensive). Hoping the dust brush was better--well, it works better but, it's too big for tight places. Don't even bother trying to clean the carpet with the bare floor tool. As soon as you push it forward, it folds in upon itself. So, here it is ---Works great on the car & truck, great on the bare floors in the house, great for dusting where it fits, angled fan tool works great on top fan blades. Carpets, feggitabouddit, buy the upright. Oh, by the way, emptying...
