Better than substitute Type W
I've tried other Type W filters. I'd recommend using the genuine Riccar Type W. They are the best for the Riccar Vacuum Cleaner.
Best price found was on Amazon.
Great Bags for a Great Vacuum
I purchased the Riccar "Brilliance" 2 years ago to replace an Oreck that was not satisfying me, in spite of all the advertisements. The Brilliance model uses the "W" size.

I purchased a 6-pack of bags at my vacuum cleaner store for 18.99. Depending upon how often you vacuum and the size of your house, this 6-pack should last a year. These are Hepa bags specifically designed to reduce air-borne allergens. The bags are small: 6" wide by 11" long and are cloth. They are easy to replace in the vacuum.

Another nice feature is a small piece of tape that is attached near the suction hole of each bag. The tape can be secured over the hole when the bag is ready for disposal which I find is a handy feature.

I love my Riccar and these bags may appear to be expensive, but I can tell you that their performance has been great. I have pets and have not seen pet hair as quickly after I vacuum as I did with the Oreck. I highly recommend this vacuum and these bags. In...

Backed by a five-year motor warranty, this heavy-duty canister vac will see you through years of cleaning.

The ADM-4PNHSF has an industrial-quality, twin-fan motor that cranks out an impressive 4.0 peak horsepower--more power than units that sell for twice the price! And it sucks up dirt and dust the first time, so you don't need to make repeated passes over the area you're cleaning.

State-of-the-Art Power Nozzle and Accessories Provide Easy Operation
This canister vacuum also boasts an electronic power nozzle assembly. The electric hose is equipped with an ergonomically correct pistol-grip and a fingertip power switch for comfortable, easy use.

Additionally, telescoping extension wands make it easy to reach your car's trunk or under the sofa, while a low-profile power head features a dirt-seeking headlight. For added convenience, a toe-touch switch allows the power head to switch smoothly from carpet to bare flooring, and a storage halo cord prevents the cord from obstructing path.

Metropolitan Vacuum Cleaner Co., Inc.: Committed to the American Dream
In December of 1939, Hyman Gulker pawned his pocket watch and gave $50 to his daughter and son-in-law, Pearl and Israel Stern. That was the beginning of Metropolitan Vacuum Cleaner Company, the family's American Dream.

Before he founded Metro, Israel sold vacuum cleaners door to door. He was such a great salesman, in fact, that the president of the last company he worked for offered him $100 to come back into the fold. To the president's great disappointment, however, Israel's wife had the last word. She said, "Nothing doing. We're on our own now!"

Since the day those fateful words were spoken, the Metropolitan Vacuum Cleaner Co., Inc. has grown from a small retail store in Bronx, NY, that sold and repaired vacuum cleaners into a multidivisional corporation with an ever-expanding range of products.

What's in the Box
ADM-4PNHSF canister vacuum; storage halo cord; seven-inch power conductive flexible hose; four chrome/steel extension wands (two with locks); electric power nozzle; crevice tool; fabric tool; dust brush; floor/wall brush; three disposable bags; and two charcoal foam filters.

With so many on offer these days, it is great to have a name you can trust. This item is certainly that and will be a perfect buy. The distributor have added some great touches and this equals great value.

Powerful, but not (as durable as) your mother's vacuum.
UPDATE: WOULD REDUCE TO 2 STARS. At no charge, the manufacturer sent a replacement cover to correct the broken rivet. The customer service was good. They suggested bending the wheel into place to straighten the Now, however, 17 months after purchase, the electric power nozzle does not turn on. This follows on several weeks of the nozzle turning on and off intermittently. Now I wish I had purchased the vacuum from a physical store with a buyer protection program. My new strategy is to buy cheap vacuums on a buyer protection plan and get the broken parts replaced. This was way too expensive for the grief.

ORIGINAL: I bought this because I was tired of the expensive, plastic vacuums falling apart within the first year of use. While this vacuum is incredibly powerful (indeed it sucks the area rugs right off the floor) it's not the indestructible stainless steel canister vacuum of my childhood. Within the first 4 months a rivet broke loose from the canister, making it impossible...

Not a good vacuum, lacks modern features, sucks - in the wrong way
I bought this vacuum for a few reasons:
1) All the brand name vacuums listed on consumer reports have user reviews that said the vacuums were not that good
2) the user reviews for this vacuum were much higher, albeit fewer people, but I looked at both models too.
3) The reviews of this vacuum made it sound like it was amazing

I am truly wondering if the previous reviewers all worked for the company.

While I will say this IS a good vacuum, it does not live up to the hype and quite frankly lacks some key modern features or has some poor quality aspects
1) The cord just hangs out there with no place to go. You can wrap it around the body but that is a pain in the @$$.
2) The spare attachments hang onto a flimsy plastic carrier that poorly snaps onto the vacuum tube/pole
3) the long pole attachment (not the set that goes to the power nozzle but the other long one for the non powered attachments) does not clip. As you are vacuuming the...
Metropolitan AMD-4PNHSF w/ power nozzle
We just opened the box. It took all of 5 minutes to put it together. First thing I checked was the suction. It was great. Two negatives, no auto cord recoil and the exhaust is loud. It is well built, glides nicely along the floor, comes with all the accessories, including two extra chrome metal wands, has a powerful rug beater and the bare floor nozzle has great bristles. It is light weight so it is easy to carry up the stairs and makes it OK to clean the stairs, although I wish the hose was longer. We have had all types of vacuums, Oreck upright, sharp canister, Hoover canister, shop vacs, etc. After all is said and done, when you get right down to it, you have to use a canister vac if you want to really clean. It allows you to get the dirt and dust in those hard to reach places and an upright is simply not going to cut it. We looked at all the vacs, Electrolux, Dyson, Eureka, Kenmore, Bla, Bla, Bla, Ba Bla. Based on price, performance, ease of use, durability and good old SUCTION!,...

Finally, A Real "Old School", Vacuum Cleaner!
The vast majority of vacuums on the market today are poor substitutes for the "old school" models that gained fame in the 1950's and 60's. Mostly Plastic, cheaply made, and never doing the job good enough, most vacuums today do just enough to get by. This unit by Metropolitan not only pays homage to those legendary cannister vacs of the 1950's, but it actually cleans like them! This vac actually is powerful enough, to suck up, anything it touches, so it not only picks up the deepest dirt, and dust, but if you're not careful, it'll also devour socks, coins, paper, and other small items! This is the type of concentrated, sustained, sucking power, lacking in most contemporary units. With it's mulitiple filtration, quiet operation, and lightweight, this vacuum is a joy to operate. The need to buy filters and bags may be construed as a negative, but in reality, it's a reasonable trade-off, for the true "old school" cleaning power, this unit delivers.

Pleased customer!
This is by far the best vacuum I have owned, and I've had several Hoovers, an Electrolux and most recently an Oreck. This machine actually picks up dog hair! It's so nice to feel like you're really cleaning the floors, not simply running over them. I'd buy it again!
metro vad adm-4sf 11.25 amp 4 HP canister vac
This is the best vacuum I have ever used! Don't be stupid like me and get just the basic model, though...make sure you get the power nozzle!!! I have two cats and a German shepherd...don't know what I was thinking. This vac is so powerful and amazingly lightweight. If you live in a house that is shaped like a rocket like I do...all stairs and no depth... you need this vacuum. I think it does a better job than my daughter's Dyson and the lightweight feature is the whip! I'm only 5' tall and find it nearly impossible to drag that heavy-butt upright up and down all these stairs, but the metro vac is totally portable and easy to use. Comes with an arsenal of attachments. I guess the only disadvantage is the fact that now I have to buy bags again instead of the dirtcup, but now no dust escapes when I empty it like it did with the big upright. Also, mine, at least, did not come with explicit instructionsregarding what was what, but it is not rocket science. Plus, they have an...

The Little Vac that Could!! - Powerful & Lightweight
Purchase requirements - Small - Lightweight - Powerful - Quiet - Long Hose

1.) Small - when I first received my shipment, I was a bit taken aback. The Box was 4'x2'x 1-1/2'. Gosh it was huge and a bit heavy (for a vac). Slowly I opened the package to find another box. A bit relieved, the size seemed a bit more appropriate. I quickly opened the box to find another box. Now we are talking - once this box was opened, I saw what I wanted - a small, good looking, lightweight vac! The Stainless Steel did give the vac a professional appearance.

2.) Lightweight - Definitely meets the bill. No larger in width and length than my keyboard, there will be no problem moving this vac about.

3.) Powerful - I didn't expect much from all the claims (4 horsepower and 95" of waterlift), but this little vac made me a believer in power. This is the first time I only needed to use the crevice tool for awkward corners. Those little pieces of fuzz and hairs that usually...

Great suction but minor design flaw
Metropolitan Professionals ADM-4PNHSF 13 Amp 4 Horsepower Canister Vacuum with Quadruple Hepa Filtration and Electric Power Nozzle

This little vac has terrific suction, better than any cannister I know of. Unfortunately, there are 2 minor design problems. First, there is no catch or hook that keeps the hose attached to the body. I must have pulled it out 10 times doing one small house. All it needs is a simple twist catch or such. Second, there is no comfortable place for your hand holding the thing. The hose attaches to the smooth part that the attachments go in, but that is right where you need to hold it, so you are holding the hose which isnt comfortable. Don't manufacturers EVER use their own products?? These things should not have been missed from a company that's been around forever. It sure did a good job vacuuming though - hope they fix these things.
Metro vacuum cleaner
Works like a champ, exactly as described. I did end up having to buy the power carpet head from the company( who were very nice and it arrived promptly) My only grip is how small the vacuum bag is, if you have a large house or lots of pets, you really have to keep an eye on it...it fills up quick . On the whole, I am very pleased. The cloth bag works very well and is easy to rinse out, drys quickly. I would recommend it to any one especially if you have a small house or trailer and not a lot of storage room. It has plenty of power and is light to carry. The body does get quite warm since there is no plastic shielding, I called the company about this and they explained that as it is all metal and not insulated this is normal.

Beware of Pictures
Picture showed authentic Oreck Buster B Vac Bags. What was sent was a generic bag, not authentic. This is deceptive and although they fit, quality is definitely different. I wouldn't purchase from this merchant again!

NOT AS ADVERTISED
BAIT AND SWITCH... THE DESCRIPTION OF THIS PRODUCT LED ME TO BELIEVE THESE VACUUM CLEANER BAGS WERE THE ACTUAL ORECK PRODUCT.....NOT THE IMPOSTER PRODUCT THAT I RECEIVED. VERY DISAPPOINTED!
great deal
I purchased these bags thinking they were generic copies of oreck products. If these are different then the incredibly overpriced version at the oreck store I cannot tell. Will buy these again

Cheap 9 Kenmore 50558, 5055, 50557 Micro Filtration Canister Vacuum Bags On Sale

Panasonic and Sears Kenmore Vacuum Cleaners Micro-Lined C-5

Great value for the money
I usually buy the Sears cloth HEPA filter bags that come two to a package for my Kenmore canister vacuum. For the same price (or less) this offer includes nine quality, lined paper bags by Envirocare that are stated to capture 99.7% of all allergens. These bags fit the vacuum perfectly, and the bag itself seems to fit the cavity of the vacuum better than the cloth bags do. When I switched to these bags I noticed a huge difference in the amount of suction power the vacuum seems to have. Overall these bags are a great value for the money.

Cardboard Frame Glued Too Close
These bags work fine for me in my Kenmore canister. No, they're not the fabric kind, but a Sears vacuum salesman told me the difference in allergen-trapping effectiveness between the true Hepa bags and the paper ones is a matter of a few percent. I don't recall the exact numbers, but I knew my reaction at the time was the allergen-trapping difference was TOTALLY not worth the price difference.

I'm writing this review because of a problem I found with the cardboard frame at the mouth of the bag. In my vac, this frame slides into a slot that holds it in position. The problem is that the bag is glued almost up to the edge of the cardboard on some bags so that there is not enough clearance for the cardboard to slide into the slot. It's not a lot, but it's enough that I ripped two bags trying to get them installed. If you look at the bags when you get them you will see a fair amount of deviation in how much clearance you have. Some bags are ok, some are not.

It...
Not Made of Cloth
I purchased these bags in hopes for the same type I bought from Sears in their stores--ones made of thick, high quality fabric. I was disappointed that they were not what I was expecting. Needless to say, I purchased multiple packages to save on shipping costs, because it cost the same amount to ship one package as it did to ship three. Doing it this way made each bag more cost effective, and now I don't have to think about buying them for a long time! If you are looking for the white, fabric-like bags, do not purchase these. They are a regular thin, paper vacuum cleaner bag.
