This vacuum assembles easily without tools. Don't be concerned when Step 1 states that the main handle snaps into place when pushed down and it doesn't. The main handle actually becomes locked only when the "carry" handle is attached in a subsequent step.

I already own a Dyson and this vacuum compares favorably. Both have powerful suction. I actually prefer the Eureka's utility tool hose operation to that of the Dyson. The stair/upholstery hose attachment works especially well.

The Eureka is bagless, but it does have two filters which require periodic replacement. The DCF 21 canister filter is $15.18 each on Amazon. The EF6 exhaust filter is $8.37 each. In total, filter replacements will probably amount to $50 plus per year based on Eureka's 3 to 6 month replacement instructions, although one can extend the...

It's going back to the store
Out of the box, I loved this vacuum. It has powerful suction and I can't believe how much dust and dirt it picked up - it really does a great job at cleaning!

Now to the bad part. I have never owned a vacuum that required this much maintenance and cleaning. According to the product maintenance tab on this page, after each use you are supposed to empty the canister and then clean the filters. doing this, took us 15 minutes and made a dusty mess of the air and our hands. Who wants to play in the grime that you just vacuumed up and get the dust all over the place?
On top of that, you are supposed to replace several of the filters every 3 months. This is where they get you. It's almost $40 to do this.

I am taking it back to the store. This vacuum may be inexpensive to buy, but it's not worth the cost and hassle to maintain.

Wow!
I had to break down and buy a new vacuum. The one I had was literally falling to pieces. I wanted one that had similar features, upholstery vacuum, extendable wand, etc. I was also looking for one that had good cleaning abilities. I was a little hesitant at first, when I ordered this vacuum it had just become available on Amazon and had no reviews. I decided to go for it.

Had it for less than a week, but so far it is a cleaning beast. I have two children and really only three bedrooms that need cleaning, rest of the house is tiled. I just emptied the canister and wow is all I can say. It had stuff, more than likely was sitting deep down in the carpets for a long time. I commented to my wife the carpets actually looked clean after vacuuming them. Had the other vacuum for 4 years.

Frustration Free Vacuuming
I know this will be long, so I will present this in pro's & con's, a summary of my background a little, a summery of my experiences, and then a more detailed follow up on some of those pro's/con's.

All in all, my wife and I are really happy with it. It's only been the first week, so time will tell.

Some of the pro's and con's might appear to be double listed, as some are a plus and a minus.

Most Amazing Vacuum Ever!!!!

DC41 Not as sturdy as older models
I'm a bit disappointed with the DC41. It doesn't have the sturdiness of other models. When you remove the wand from the base of the unit, it seems a bit flimsy. The plastic isn't sturdy and it takes a bit of juggling to get the wand "realigned" into the base when you're done.

Getting the unit to "click" into place in an upright "idle" position also seems to take a bit of effort. I end up putting a foot in front of the unit to stop it from rolling while I lift the lever up until it clicks into place.

I can't find any fault with the suction, with the exception of picking up larger items. We used it to pickup the inevitable trail of styrofoam crumbs after opening christmas gifts. The "crumbs" were on a hardwood floor. I found the head of the DC41 just pushed them around, requiring me to use the wand. My older Dyson wouldn't have had a problem.

All in all, I'm partial to my old Dyson. I like the suction of the DC41, and I like the lower head of...

Great vaccum
I didnt buy this from Amazon but in a store. Thought I would check out what the reviews were and saw that there were none. I like the fact that it is two in one because I have area rugs for a stand up vac and tons of bare floors for the canister. I was tired of having two vaccums. Great suction. Once you remember to turn the hose to get it on and off it is easy. It is bagless which is useful. There are a couple of drawbacks. DO NOT LIFT THE VAC UP BY THE WAND HANDLE. Lift it by the handle that was intended to be used for lifting. When you lift it by the want handle the handle decides it wants to turn. It is a remvable handle and it has a raised ball on it to slide into a slot. It will dislodge from the slot when you lift the vaccum up by the wand handle and get stuck. It is very difficult to get it back to rights. It is a loud vaccum but not overly loud. I do not like the fact that the attachment intended to be used with the canister portion hasn't a place to be stored. And dirt seems...

Great for kids and pets!
I decided to get this vacuum after doing a lot of research. I didn't want to pay this much for a vacuum, but I have a six month old that's starting to crawl around on the floors and it was worth it to have peace of mind. I also have three cats so I wanted powerful enough to get all the hair up. I used it on all my carpets, my tile and hardwood floors and it is AMAZING. The canister option is what really sold this one for me because I have stairs and I hate trying to vacuum stairs with an upright. This was simple and it took me only about ten minutes to do the entire staircase. Switching from canister to upright is really easy, it takes less than a minute and you just push a couple buttons. The collection cup has a bottom release so it's easy to clean out. I also love that you can turn the brushes off if you want to, for bare floors. The cord is nice and long... I have no complaints about this at all. It's worth every penny.
Germ Guardian GGU300
This was a replacement for a Dirt Devil canister vacuum. Dirt Devil warranty through a repair center is a joke ended up throwing Dirt Devil canister in trash.

Pros: This was recieved on shipping date. Does the job especially if you have pets. Use mostly canister section as I do not have rugs. So far am pleased how it picks up dirt and dog hair.
Cons: Should have longer extension pole for tall people, clip on pole extension does break easily, however did call Germ Guardian Co and they took one off a returned item and sent it to me, can use if the white piece under black plastic clip didn't break. You do need to bang off dust filter deep in a bag or you are just putting it back in the air. Not good for those that have asthma.

I am extremely pleased. This is a great vacuum cleaner.
I had no prior experience with canister vacuum cleaners, so I really didn't know what to expect. I already own an almost new Hoover bagless upright vacuum cleaner for comparison. First of all, the Hoover canister vacuum cleaner has a really great high tech appearance and seems to be well designed and manufactured. The first downside I can see to a canister vacuum cleaner is there are a lot of parts to assemble and store every time you want to use it. I finally decided the best way to store it is to put it back into the original shipping box. So don't throw it away. It makes it fairly easy and compact to store everything. The instruction manual is next to useless. The numbered items were incorrect or missing altogether. I hope somebody from Hoover reads this. It is embarrassing how little was written and how pathetic the mistakes are. So, you've just got to figure everything out by yourself. Thankfully it isn't so difficult.

Background: We've used an upright Hoover vacuum since we married (a long time). This is our first canister vacuum. It has a lot of thoughtful design packed into it, but in the end, I think most members of my family would rather still use an upright vacuum instead of a canister model. My whole family has had a chance to use this model, so here's our feedback.

Anyone who watches television even occasionally has seen the ads for a vacuum featuring the inventor, who promises his premium bagless vacuum "won't lose suction". So it's no surprise that Hoover, the company whose name is, in some places, synonymous with vacuum cleaning would develop a bagless canister promising "no loss of suction", at a lower price.
Even while unpacking the vacuum, I was confident that assembly would be easy. The contents were even listed on the box flap, so I didn't even have to find the instructions to ensure I had everything.. The "business" part of the vacuum was packed carefully, but I must admit that for a few minutes I thought they had omitted the crevice tool and dusting brush accessories, which were not securely packed and had fallen to the floor as I removed cardboard from the box. The Best Vacuum Yet!
We were fed up with our top-of-the-line Kenmore vacuum, which we bought in the hopes that a more expensive machine would also be more effective than the previous Hoovers and Eurekas that we suffered with. But that expensive monster was a nightmare from day one till the very end...and we decided that it might be better for us to buy a cheaper machine and replace it every year. We got recommendations from friends of ours to try out Bissell vacuum, and reviews on Amazon pointed us to this line of vacuums. We couldn't wait for it to be shipped to us, so we went to Target and found it on sale for $89. Yay!

Came home, took it out of the box, and discovered that the hose had to be attached, which was a bit of a challenge to the men of our household ;) But after that, it was good to go. Bissell Momentum Bagless Vacuum Model 82G7
We purchased a Bissell Momentum Bagless Vacuum Model 82G7 in June 2008.

After having it for less than 7 months and using it twice a month or so it began to smell terribly of burning plastic that quickly filled the room and blue sparks visible within headlight lens. In addition, the vacuum became increasingly louder. The filters were kept clean, the belt replaced as needed and the dust bin emptied after each use.

We contacted Bissell in early January 2009 and were told to take it to the closest authorized Bissell repair shop for inspection.

Several days later the technician informed us the extremely loud noise is not normal; is caused by the motor failing, cannot be repaired so therefore must be replaced.

Later that week we picked up the brand new, unopened, in the sealed box, replacement vacuum only to discover the plastic housing that secures the belt and brush was broken into three pieces within the box. A shipping issue?

Good value for the money
I wanted a second vacuum to keep upstairs and for use on carpets. I found this one for about $99.00. I read the reviews for the Bissell 3910, and although this isn't the same, it is very similar.

I was amazed at how much pet hair and dust this vacuum collected after I had already vacuumed with my canister vac. I think it does a really good job. I also like the 35-foot cord, which means I can plug it into one outlet for the entire upstairs. I wanted a bagless, because the cost of bags would be a lot given how much dog hair I have to deal with. The container is easy to remove and clean.

You have to be careful with things like curtains, bedspreads, and such that may be in contact with the floor, because its suction is powerful. It is also a bit loud for my liking, but not horrible.

I have not tried it on bare floors, so I can't give an opinion about that. I would recommend this vacuum for anyone who likes a good value.
