Great so far.
I just got this today, so this is a day one review.
My upright Eureka just wasn't doing a good job of picking up dog hair, so I wanted to try something different.
This vacuum so far tackled through a weeks long worth of dog hair in a jiffy.
I should state that my carpet has a VERY low pile, so I don't know how well it will work on a larger pile carpet.
For tile, hard floors etc, this vacuum rocks!

I noticed no loss of suction when I used the dust brush attachment, with my upright I would get a huge drop in suction power.
What a bargain this vacuum was for me. I've been converted to a canister vac.

Shipping was very fast from the seller. I understand that getting bags may be an issue for this vac, I have some coming in next week, I'll have to see if they fit.

If any update on either the bag issue, or performance, I'll update this review.

This small vacuum packs a powerful punch. The suction is top tier, it moves easily with the wheels and the cord retracts. And, the price is unbeatable.

This vacuum is for hard surfaces ONLY! That said, that is exactly what I purchased it for. The recipient was thrilled and has been vacuuming everything in sight for days. I have used vacs from every manufacturer except Dyson, only because they are so stinkin' pricey. Kenmore has the best suction and the most function of any other I have used. And give me a bagged vac any day. You won't have the fallout dust cloud at the trash can. Just slip it into a plastic grocery bag and dispose of it. My friend loves it.

The High Cost of Maintenance
Panasonic MC-CG885 OptiFlow Lightweight Bag Canister Vacuum Cleaner

This vacuum cleaner sucks. There I said it, now that that's out of the way let's get down to the nitty gritty the down and dirty. For the past five years or so I've only been using bag less vacuums. I have three. A Eureka upright, a Panasonic small canister and a DustBuster. Bag less vacuums are a breed unto themselves. You get to save the cost of the bags but you have to figure out how to empty them without making a bigger mess than you just cleaned up. You have to supply a bag of some sort so you can contain the dirt and dispose of it neatly. With a bag vacuum like the MC-CG885 that's not a problem. What IS a problem is the bag inside is quite small and very costly. As Amazon doesn't sell it (yet??) I found it on the Internet for about $6 per bag. For a bag as small as it is, that could be quite an expensive proposition to maintain. My first thought is if you have new carpet, they usually shed for...

As Powerful As They Come
I'm simply thrilled by how well the Panasonic MC-CG885 cleans! At 12 Amps, this vacuum cleaner is as powerful as they come! The powerful suction helps in tackling large areas with amazing speed and ease. It works very well on both bare floor and high pile carpets. On carpets, the motorized beater brush provides plenty of torque to quickly loosen any deeply embedded dirt or pet hair. It should take at most a couple of passes to clean an area, even on very dense carpets.

I live in a 2nd floor apartment with a carpeted hallway & stairs, the rest of my apartment is hardwood floors with linoleum in the kitchen and tile in the bath. I've used it everywhere and it's AMAZING! As someone described it to me, it will 'suck chrome off a tow hitch', which sounds a little funny -- but that is the power it has.

Putting it together is easy and will take a matter of minutes, but be careful that you put the metal poles together correctly, otherwise you won't have power to the vac head that you push on the floor. It took me a bit to figure out that I had made...

Terrific Performer and Outstanding Value
Approximately three years ago, my $200 Eureka vac finally stopped working and I purchased the featherlite to replace it. At that time I lived in a 1,400 sf apartment. Now I live in a 2,500 sft home.

For the past three years, this vacuum has served our family well. Pros:

1. Inexpensive. $40 or less in most places.
2. It picks up dirt, fuzz (and legos) as well or better than any other vacuum I've ever used. Really. Just change the bag when it gets full.
3. Light weight. It's very easy to manuver and my younger kids can use it.
4. Simplicity. This is a basic vac. It's easy to change the bag, wind the cord, and pull hair/crud out of the roller if necessary.
5. It's got a bag. This is a personal preference, but every bagless upright I've ever used creates a small dust storm when you empty it. The bag system on this one works well.

Cons:
1. I don't expect it to go past 5 years. It's clearly designed for low cost and...

works fine after a year
I was suprised to see that some of the other reviews portray this vacuum as useless. I bought mine from Target a year ago and it works wonderfully. Only complaints is that it's still pretty 'clunky' to carry around and that when you want to use the attachments it's hard to get the hose out. I've gone through a Shark brand vacuum that broke after 2 uses and an Orek XL that ate it's own cord but couldn't pick up Cheerios that my daughter spilled. I've had bad luck with vacuums but this one is doing just fine after 200+ uses.
Can suck the chrome off a trailer hitch but breaks
UPDATE After about 5 Months the part of the hose that connects to the motor ( see my pic) has had a piece break off that locks on the little peg; and now the end of the hose has a vertical crack in it where the attachments would connect. My concern all along after assembling this was the durability factor.

I have a rainbow canister that I have decided to retire do the intensive assembly required for its operation. You have to fill the tank with water then place it it's caddy, place the motor on top of tank and then attach the hose from the power head to the motor. Then do the reverse to empty the water from the tank. So I decided to get an upright that you can just plug in and go.

I'm not sold yet on the bag less uprights so I decided to go with the old tried and true one's with a bag. I first looked at the Eureka Upright Vacuum Cleaner 1934A, had an impressive review but no attachments and only a 5 amp motor and a little more than I wanted to spend...

Not A Full-Fledged Cleaning Solution, But A Handy And Lightweight Supplement
Perhaps the Dirt Devil Express Compact Bagged Canister (SD30035) oversells itself as the ideal solution for floor to ceiling vacuuming. It clearly is NOT. But from my perspective, considering the size and the power of the unit, that would be a pretty lofty expectation to fulfill. In no way did I think or anticipate that this tiny little baby (it's the approximate size of an average frozen turkey) was going to replace my larger, bulkier, and more powerful floor vacuums. This handy and lightweight Dirt Devil is a supplementary cleaning product, and I love it. Again, to be clear, if I was trying to vacuum big rooms with this alone--this would be a nightmare. But it is terrific for places I don't want to lug a bigger piece of machinery.

Here are a few examples of where the Dirt Devil Express has improved my life (and my back):

As good as any small canister I've used but with style...
Four stars is the "I Like It" rating.

This Express has the same 12amp motor as all the other vacuums in the Dirt Devil line so don't think you'll get more suction even with their other models. MIGHT be some vacuum chamber design differences that improve suction in the various types but they don't show you the insides anywhere I've found. It will suck your hand tight to the open nozzle with a feeling pretty much the same as our Eureka upright sweeper.

Listed as 13lbs on Amazon and 8.5lbs on Dirt Devil site, but with everything attached ready to store or carry to another location, digital scale reads 11lbs, still easy to lift with the handle even when holding in front of you going through doorways etc.

While on the subject of the handle, I'm tempted to grab the wand tube first since it sticks up when you have it in one of the two holding brackets depending on if you have vacuum horizontal or vertical. I think pushing pulling or any attempt to move the...
Awesome little vacuum
After hours of reading reviews on Amazon, I bought the Dirt Devil Express Compact Bagged Canister. I'M SO GLAD I DID. I have only used it once, but I love it already. I live in a one bedroom, 700 square foot apartment in NYC with wood floors and a couple of area rugs. The vacuum really sucks up dirt, lint, and dust bunnies from under furniture, and does a very impressive job on the rugs! I immediately ditched my bagless upright, which is disgusting to clean (can someone please tell me what the point of a bagless vacuum is besides giving people allergy attacks?) It's lightweight and easy to handle. And really, you can't beat the price for a 12 amp motor. I rarely write product reviews, but I felt I just had to share my experience!

Lightweight with a LONG reach. A++
Not meant to vacuum large carpeted areas! Strongly disagree with previous rating of 2 stars. I can actually vacuum my ceiling fan while sitting on my couch! Great for small tricky areas like the back of an entertainment center. The floor attachment is meant for hard surfaces and works well there. Looong hose and extensions, good suction, washable air filters. For the $$ you can't buy a better light weight vacuum. And it does say "Light Weight" right on the box, which I took as meaning "not for large carpeted areas." Adequate for light use
The SD 30050 is a fairly inexpensive and unremarkable canister vacuum. Weighing in at 10lbs, you're not going to break your back carrying it up and down the stairs.
It comes with standard attachments and features: a telescopic chromed hose, a crevice tool, a small brush, a hardfloor tool, a rotating carpet brush and a small rotating brush.
The power cord is self-winding and works well. It is equipped with a continuously variable power control on the canister as well as a bleed valve on the handle.
Unfortunately, but not surprisingly considering its low price, the rotating brushes are powered by suction. In plain English, they stop rotating as soon as you start needing them, so they're completely useless for most serious tasks. Another weak point is the "onboard storage" for the tools: the manual attempts to convince you that it's reasonable to keep the small brush and the crevice tool clipped to a plastic piece which itself clips around the handle. Powerful, compact, lightweight, variable speed.
This lightweight and powerful vacuum cleaner takes up very little of the valuable space in your home, but with its variable speed motor it does quite an effective job. It's also fairly economically priced at about $130 or less at the time of this writing. It comes with all the attachments one would expect with any good vacuum and most of them can be conveniently stored on the handle. Dirt is stored in a disposable bag. The power cord can be retracted at the touch of a button. The large power button can be easily activated with your foot to save bending down. A quality and versatile item at an affordable price.
Great value for the power and versatility of this vacuum
I want to start with an issue that others have complained about because it was not one for us: suction. It was - and has been - sufficient for us. I will continue to monitor that and provide updates if needed. But all I can do is give my experiences after using this in varied situations and on different surfaces and furniture.

I am very picky about vacuums and have gone through many which didn't hold up over time. So I tested this one repeatedly before writing this review - on bare floors (wood and laminate), carpet (shag and low pile), blinds, sofas, and chairs. I also tested the crevice tool extensively. Jump past the next paragraph (although the info could be helpful) if you want immediate descriptions of vacuum assembly and features - the paragraph directly below gives a summary of our home size and flooring materials, lifestyle, etc. It could be a good basis for comparison with yours.

Terrific Performer and Outstanding Value
Approximately three years ago, my $200 Eureka vac finally stopped working and I purchased the featherlite to replace it. At that time I lived in a 1,400 sf apartment. Now I live in a 2,500 sft home.

For the past three years, this vacuum has served our family well. Pros:

1. Inexpensive. $40 or less in most places.
2. It picks up dirt, fuzz (and legos) as well or better than any other vacuum I've ever used. Really. Just change the bag when it gets full.
3. Light weight. It's very easy to manuver and my younger kids can use it.
4. Simplicity. This is a basic vac. It's easy to change the bag, wind the cord, and pull hair/crud out of the roller if necessary.
5. It's got a bag. This is a personal preference, but every bagless upright I've ever used creates a small dust storm when you empty it. The bag system on this one works well.

Cons:
1. I don't expect it to go past 5 years. It's clearly designed for low cost and...

works fine after a year
I was suprised to see that some of the other reviews portray this vacuum as useless. I bought mine from Target a year ago and it works wonderfully. Only complaints is that it's still pretty 'clunky' to carry around and that when you want to use the attachments it's hard to get the hose out. I've gone through a Shark brand vacuum that broke after 2 uses and an Orek XL that ate it's own cord but couldn't pick up Cheerios that my daughter spilled. I've had bad luck with vacuums but this one is doing just fine after 200+ uses.
Can suck the chrome off a trailer hitch but breaks
UPDATE After about 5 Months the part of the hose that connects to the motor ( see my pic) has had a piece break off that locks on the little peg; and now the end of the hose has a vertical crack in it where the attachments would connect. My concern all along after assembling this was the durability factor.

I have a rainbow canister that I have decided to retire do the intensive assembly required for its operation. You have to fill the tank with water then place it it's caddy, place the motor on top of tank and then attach the hose from the power head to the motor. Then do the reverse to empty the water from the tank. So I decided to get an upright that you can just plug in and go.

I'm not sold yet on the bag less uprights so I decided to go with the old tried and true one's with a bag. I first looked at the Eureka Upright Vacuum Cleaner 1934A, had an impressive review but no attachments and only a 5 amp motor and a little more than I wanted to spend...

Hoover S3670 Anniversary WindTunnel Bagged Canister-Excellent Vac!
It's been a long road to get to this particular vacuum. About a year ago, I bought a used Filter Queen that was touted as the best canister on market. I hated it from the start, would just push objects across the carpet instead of picking them up. DREADED using it, it was so cumbersome and didnt have any modern features, such as auto cord rewind. So finally was able to sell that, even lost a few bucks on deal but just wanted it out of the house.

Then I bought what I thought I wanted, a Sears model. Have had a Sears Progressive before but the quick release feature broke on it (a piece of plastic inside tube, could not be fixed) and now it was quick releasing too quickly.....

So I thought that would be a good choice but once I got it home, it just seemed flimsy and cheap. Didn't even work so well. So back to the store it went. Seems Sears products are getting flimsier and are not the same quality as of just a few years ago.

Pros and cons....
I purchased a Hoover carpet shampooer recently, and was very pleased with performance and quality, so naturally I looked at Hoover's line of vacuums. The price for the canister was a bit much, I thought---but I liked the idea of the freedom it offered, having had uprights for the last 10 years. My first impression was that the quality of the plastic wasn't there, so only 3 stars--for example, if you open the top to reveal the two small attachments (the other two: floor/brush and upholstery won't fit anywhere), the lid seems like it wouldn't take much pressure to accidently snap it off. Also, when it arrived, the plastic window covering wasn't attached--no problem, it snapped right in---but it left me with an unsettled feeling about my purchase. The good news is that it's pretty easy to roll, the handle is adjustable, and for the first time in ages I can actually vacuum under my bed :) I also like the way the canister secures the handle; it doesn't take much more room than the upright...
Works great! I'm very impressed
I was a fan of Hoover vacuums to begin with, but this one is the best I've ever used. I recently had all of my carpet replaced with Pergo laminate, and I am very concerned about keeping it clean without damaging it with the brush roll on a vacuum. I also have two cats, one of which is very long-haired.

The power on this vacuum is great. At full power, I don't even have to get near something for it to pick it up. The first day I got the vacuum, I picked a room with the least furniture in it and vacuumed it. I then went behind it with a Swiffer sweeper and checked the cloth. The cloth was almost completely clean, and the room had been very dirty and sandy from cat litter prior to that.

It is very easy to use. The video on the product page for this vacuum shows it well. Changing to one of the attachments is very easy, as is extending the handle/wand. For me, it is not simply a vacuum, but it is now my duster as well. There is no reason for me to ever use a duster...
